Alfred was my oldest friend having known each other since the 2nd grade at Pullman school in Richmond.We had a lot of adventures together including the Boy Scouts. He was one of the smartest men I have ever known. We were in College Prep classes together in High School.I regretfully did not call him on his birthday which is 13 days before mine in May. So saddened to hear about your loss. I know you will miss you deeply. I remember when Alfred had a paper route in Richmond. He must have beenAround 14 or 15 and I was around 11.. He was throwing papers and my friend told me to kick is new bike. I was feeling a little pier pressure so I kicked and he told me to stop. I did it again. I didn’t figure he would lay his bike down to chase me since it was new. To my surprise that is exactly what he did , threw the bike down after I kicked it for the 3 time. He chased me, but couldn’t catch me. The moral of the story is , don’t let pier pressure get you in trouble. I’ll miss Al’s singing with the male chorus, he was a gifted Baritone and Soprano.
