Aleli L. Castro's Obituary
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved Aleli Laxamana Castro. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on February 3, 2025, in her home in Hayward, CA, at the age of 91. She was born on November 14, 1933 to Pedro Laxamana and Jovita Retizos Laxamana in San Pablo in the province of Laguna, Philippines. She was the eldest of seven children. She graduated with a doctorate degree from the University of the East, College of Dentistry, in the Philippines in 1955. She started her private practice shortly after graduation. In 1958, she took a position in the dental office at People's Homesite and Housing Corporation (PHHC). It was through that position that she met her soulmate, Eliseo B. Castro, who was the youngest sibling of her dental chief. They eloped on December 16, 1966. In 1975, they immigrated to Guam in hopes of providing more opportunities for their children. They migrated to Hayward, California in 1988 after their youngest child graduated from high school. She enjoyed hosting gatherings for friends and family. After retirement, she traveled the world with her husband and friends. She will be remembered fondly for her vibrance and laughter, her love of life, extraordinary cooking skills, chic sense of style, and superhuman shopping abilities. But most of all, she will be remembered for the kindness and love that she gave.
