Alejandro Erguiza Sarmiento's Obituary
Alejandro (Alex) Erguiza Sarmiento May 27, 1934 – July 31, 2011 Resident of San Leandro Passed peacefully at the age of 77; is survived by his beautiful wife Idalia of 52 years, his children Noel, Alde, Gene and his daughter Leah. He is also survived by his grandsons Gene Jr, Genaro, Lucca, Marco, Nolan and Christan along with his Daughters-In-Law Edna, Carol and Katrina. Alex migrated from the Philippines to the US in 1970 and started working for the City of Oakland as a Civil Engineer. He also sold real estate part-time and helped many Filipinos achieve the american dream of home ownership. After retiring from the City of Oakland and real-estate, he worked for the Chapel of the Chimes as a pre-need consultant. Alex enjoyed various activities throughout his life, such as hunting, fishing, bowling, dancing and singing. He was also a member of South Hayward United Methodist Church where he found a lifetime of friendship. Although he enjoyed many activities, what he loved most was spending time with his grandsons and listening to the wonderful music to his ears when they called him ‘Papa’. Funeral Service will be on Sunday August 7 at 1:30pm at Chapel of the Chimes in Hayward.
