Ray Anderson's Obituary
Ray Anderson Anderson Sept. 7, 1922 – March 9, 2009 Resident of Hayward Ray Anderson, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 9, 2009. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Howard and Edna Anderson. Ray was the seventh of seven sons. He was preceded in his passing by his parents, all of his six brothers, their wives, and great-granddaughter Megan Lizama. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Ida “Flo” Anderson. Ray is also survived by his children: son John Anderson and his wife Joan, daughter Linda Anderson and her husband Jim Prange, son Robert Anderson, all residing in Redding, Ca., Son Mark Anderson and his wife Patricia of Phoenix, AZ., and daughter Amy Martz and her husband Tony of Jackson, CA. He has 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom he treasured with all of his heart. He enlisted in the US Navy on November 28, 1942, serving in the pacific region on the U.S.S. Vesuvius until his honorable discharge on December 27, 1945. He was awarded The Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, 2 Bronze Stars and of course a Medal of Good Conduct. Ray and Ida were married in 1942. After living in Kansas City, the San Francisco Bay Area and Pioneer, Ray and Ida “Flo” moved to their current home in Jackson CA. Of his many accomplishments Ray, as a member of the Masonic Lodge, achieved the degree of “Master Mason” and was awarded the “Golden Veterans Award.” He also was awarded a special “Certificate of Honor” and an “Honorary Gold Card” for lifetime membership in the International Union of Elevator Constructors, retiring with over 35 years of service. During his time in the Bay Area, he donated his time managing, designing, and building two Little League Baseball Fields, was a Boy Scout Leader, and provided an outstanding example for neighborhood youth. While in the Gold Country area, Ray served as President of the Sierra Highlands Home Owners Association in Pioneer, was President of the Gold Country Match Club and served as president of the GSMOL of Rollingwood Estates in Jackson. Ray will always be remembered as a loving husband, wonderful father, faithful friend, and avid bowler. He considered everyone he met a friend and invited them into his life. His smile and zest for life is embedded in our hearts forever.
