January 23, 1948 - September 2, 2020
It is with a profound sense of sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Raymundo Baluyot Roque at the young age of 72. On September 2, 2020, Mr. Roque slipped away from his earthly bonds and quietly entered into eternal rest. He was born in Limay Bataan to parents Artemio and Maura Roque. He graduated from high school from St. Francis Academy in Limay, Bataan and moved to Manila to complete a Bachelor of Science in Business from the University of the East. In 1969, he met his true love Flordelisa. They married in 1973 and nine months later had their first son Raymond. In order to make a better life for themselves, they emigrated to the United States in 1975. They settled in the San Francisco Bay Area where they planted roots which blossomed into a network of extended family and close friends. They completed their family in 1978 with the birth of their second son Ryan. Raymundo displayed hard work and perseverance his whole life. From his childhood years in the province, he demonstrated his values of hard work and obligation to family by selling freshly baked bread to the surrounding towns, to help his parents raise his younger siblings. When he first arrived in the United States, he worked a number of odd jobs in order to provide for his family. In 1984, he began working at United Airlines as an aircraft mechanic where he retired after 34 years of service. He showed dedication and commitment working tireless hours and weekends. He possessed that handyman mentality that if he did not know how to fix something, he would figure out how to. Throughout his life, he always showed willingness to help family and friends whether it be giving valuable advice, lending money, or even providing a temporary roof over their head. It was not uncommon for him to assist those that newly emigrated to the United States with a “mi casa es su casa” mentality by opening his home and allowing them to stay with his family until they could stand on their own. He loved to work in the garden and what he loved more was to share his knowledge in helping others make their gardens as beautiful as they could be. His other hobbies included playing chess, watching sports, taking family vacations and bowling. Raymundo is survived by his forever loving wife Flor; sons Raymond and Ryan; daughter-in-laws Nina and Natascha; four amazing grandchildren Rianna, Nathaniel, Reese, and Max; and siblings Bong, Freddie, Danny, Faye, Artemio Jr, and Joy. He will be forever loved and missed by his devoted family and friends. A closed private family Funeral Service to give thanks to God for his remarkable life will be held Tuesday September 15 at 1030AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish Church at 41933 Blacow Road, Fremont, CA 94538. Interment to follow To ensure the health and safety of our community, we are following all guidelines set by local, state and CDC officials.
