February 2, 1954 - February 26, 2021
On Friday, February 26th at 10:10 pm, Rang Nguyen passed away peacefully through the care of doctors and nurses at Kaiser Permanente Hospital. Rang was born in 1957 in Hoi An, Vietnam to Thai Nguyen and Em Thi Dang. In 1978, Rang, his wife The, their 10 month old son Tam, his father, and his brother escaped war-torn communist Vietnam by cover of night in his father’s fishing boat headed for America via Hong Kong. Through refugee sponsorship, they arrived in Tennessee and eventually settled in California where they raised 3 more children: Peter, Mylee, and Jennifer. Rang was a tremendous person. He was smart, generous, kind, open-minded, forgiving, and brave; all the qualities that make the world a good place. Rang was the kind of person who was the first to lend a helping hand and an open ear to any problem. He loved to keep up with current events through newspapers and media, cook, garden, fish, do yoga, and talk to friends and family. Rang was known to make banh xeo for his family on cold rainy days. Rang loved to grow chili peppers and make his special homemade chili sauce. 12 years ago, Rang was diagnosed with scleroderma, an autoimmune rheumatoid disease that affected his lungs and ultimately took his life. Rang fought every day to prolong the time he had with his family. He loved his wife and children and did everything necessary to build a life for them. Rang is survived by his wife, The, and his 4 children: Tam, Peter, Mylee, and Jennifer. His daughter in-law Maria, son in-law Vathana, and grandson Jacob. His sisters: Keo, Hoa, Hoe, A and brother, Hung. Rang’s family would like to thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
