Birth Date: June 27, 1930Death Date: January 7, 2019
Isabel ‘Izzy’ Milichichi passed from our hands to the loving hands of God, surrounded by family, on January 7, 2019. She was born on June 27, 1930 to Alexander and Lucia Milichichi in San Francisco, CA and she grew up in Oakland, CA.
Isabel attended Castlemont High School in Oakland, CA where she excelled in athletics. After graduating Isabel played for the Jim Ellis Fastpitch traveling team. In one year, their team won the grand tournament proving they were the best softball team in the Bay Area. Isabel met her lifelong friend Verna Ulrich while playing fast pitch. They celebrated 65 beautiful years together in 2018.
Having grown up in the city, Isabel was an avid San Francisco 49ers and Giants fan. Outside of sports, Isabel liked to gamble at various casinos and visit the race tracks. She especially loved Golden Gate Fields and the Pleasanton Fair. Her father Alexander used to always say, “She loves feeding the horses.”
A humble, devoted servant of God, she had a warm heart and such compassion for others. Isabel’s love for others was portrayed perfectly in her gardens where she grew the most beautiful varieties of orchids. Whether it was her flowers that decorated our dining tables or her simple presence, Isabel would always make a positive impression on those she touched. We will dearly miss her kind and loving spirit.
She is survived by her beloved friend Verna; brothers Alex, Gilbert, Paul, Mario, Tony, and Edward; 13 nephews and 9 nieces; countless grand nephews and nieces; and great grand nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life will be held at the Chapel of Chimes on Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm; followed by a small gathering at the Clubhouse in Isabel’s park
