I Mei Shiu
Birth Date: January 22, 1923Death Date: August 5, 2018
I Mei Shiu passed away peacefully in her sleep at Fremont Health Care Center on August 5, 2018, at 2:35 am at the age of 95.
She was survived by her four sons: Kuo-Ying Hsu at Tau Yuan, Taiwan, Gwo-Shurn Shiu at Stockton, California, Kuo-Chang Hsu at Vancouver, Canada, Peter Schi at Pittsburg, California, and many grandsons, granddaughters, great grandsons and great granddaughters.
On January 22, 1923, I Mei was born at the capital of People’s Republic of China – Beijing and she was a second daughter of three children. At her young age, I Mei traveled with her father, mother and two sisters to Russia when her father was a diplomat. When they came back to China, they lived in Beijing until World War II broke out. In the year of 1949, I Mei moved from Mainland China to Taiwan and worked as an office clerk in the provincial government in the city of Nantou. After her retirement in 1991, I Mei immigrated to the United States of America to join her second son Gwo Shurn and 4th son Peter in California. The most enjoyable things of hers when she lived in USA were her sons’ and grandkids’ companionship, Northern California fresh air and blue sky, walking to Chinese market to buy grocery and traveling to some famous cities.
As a loving mother all through her years; she devoted most of her time and energy to raise her sons, watch them grow up and put them through colleges. She was also a caring and loving grandmother and great-grandmother to all of her grandchildren. In return to her love, all of them were very close to her and pay visits to her whenever they could.
Now, it is a great blessing for I Mei resting peacefully in God’s hands. She will be forever remembered for her soft voice, bright smile and kindness. Her funeral service will be private and attended only by family members. The Shiu family would like to extend our gratitude to all the staff at the Fremont Healthcare Center for their attentiveness and loving care.
