Chapel of the Chimes reserves the right to regulate the method of decorating lots, grave(s), crypts and niches in the cemetery so that a uniform beauty may be maintained. The following regulations are subject to change without notice and were enacted in consideration for all of the many owners and visitors. We enlist your cooperation so that the cemetery will continue to be a setting of peace and beauty.

Grave(s) decorations and floral arrangements may be removed if in the opinion of the cemetery authority the items are insensitive or offensive to other property owners or if they are deemed to be a safety or health concern. Chapel of the Chimes shall not be responsible for missing grave decorations or floral arrangements.

For Ground Property

Fresh or artificial flowers in approved lawn vases are welcomed at all times. The cemetery grounds are open from 8:00am until dusk, every day of the year for the convenience of our visitors. Except for designated holiday periods all floral arrangements and decorations are removed from graves on the designated removal dates. Lawn mowing will be performed following the removal days. Designated infant gardens will be excluded from the removal policy. Removal of floral arrangements within infant gardens will be conducted as they become unsightly.

Funeral flowers will be removed (3) three days following the committal service. Potted plants, wreaths and other decorations, except fresh or artificial flowers placed in approved vases, are only permitted during the designated Holidays listed below:

These decorations may be placed (7) days prior to the Holiday and should be removed by the family within (7) seven days following the Holiday if they are desired to be retained. Park personnel will begin removing and disposing of these items on the designated removal dates following the Holiday. Any decorations, potted plants and other grave decorations which are on the grave(s) other than during the Holiday periods listed above will be removed and disposed of by park personnel. Grave(s) spaces may not at any time be defined or bordered by any kind of fence, railing, hedge, trench or embankment. Wire arches and trellises shall not be placed on any grave(s) space at any time. The placement of souvenirs, wreaths, non approved flags, boxes, shells, toys, metal designs, ornaments, chairs, vases, glass and similar articles upon lots shall not be permitted at any time, and if so places Chapel of the Chimes reserves the right to remove the same. National flags no greater than 10” in total length will be allowed at all times. The placement of toys in designated infant gardens will be allowed and the removal of such items will be at which time they become unsightly or deemed a safety hazard.

Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park is located adjacent to the Regional Park District and the local population of deer which will occasionally visit the cemetery and eat fresh flowers. Below is a list of flowers deer may avoid:

For Mausoleum and Columbarium Property

Fresh cut and artificial flowers are allowed at all times in approved vases. Potted and/or seasonal plants may only be placed in designated areas and may not be placed on floors or walkways within a mausoleum or other structure. All flowers will be removed when they become unsightly in the opinion of the cemetery. As a courtesy to others, please limit the size of floral arrangements so that they do not encroach on adjoining crypts and niches. Funeral flowers will be removed (3) three days following the committal service.

Chapel of the Chimes welcomes the personalization of interment spaces. The personalization of mausoleum crypts and columbarium niches shall not take up more than ½ (one third) of the total surface area of a granite or marble front. All items placed must be within a 6” border of the outer edge of the mausoleum crypt or within a 2” border of the outer edge of a niche front. No items may be affixed to a glass front niche. In placing articles no adhesive materials other than standard type tape will be permitted.

All floral arrangements and decorations will be removed on an annual basis from all mausoleum and columbarium property. Chapel of the Chimes shall not be responsible for any discoloration to the marble crypt front from floral arrangements.
